Matching templates help Blast Audit keep the same mapping and rules across repeated jobs. In the add-in, a matching template stores your column mapping, header-row setting, document-selection mode, and matching rules. It does not store workbook formatting, document files, or sheet data. You may still see Copilot Audit in a few older labels.

Who this is for

  • Teams repeating the same matching workflow every week or month

  • Users who want fewer setup mistakes across engagements

  • Admins or power users sharing standard setups with the organization

Before you begin

  • Complete a clean manual setup first

  • Map at least one output column

  • Decide whether the template should stay personal or be shared with the organization

How to do it

  1. Open Document Matching and finish the range, document, and mapping steps.

  2. In step 3, click Save template.

  3. In Save matching template, enter a clear Template name.

  4. Add a short Description if teammates will use it later.

  5. Turn on Share with my organization only when the setup is stable and broadly reusable.

  6. Save the template.

  7. The next time you open Document Matching, you can start from the overview page under My Templates or Company templates, or use Apply template inside the flow.

  8. After applying, confirm the worksheet still has the expected headers before you run matching.

Expected result

  • Template names describe the workflow, not just the client

  • Descriptions explain what the template expects

  • Shared templates are the approved defaults for your team

  • The same template works across multiple sheets with the same structure

Avoid this

  • Saving too early, before outputs and rules are finalized

  • Expecting the template to save documents, worksheet formatting, or existing cell values

  • Applying a template to a sheet with different headers and getting Header mismatch for: ...

  • Sharing a template that only works for one person's ad hoc workbook

If it still doesn't work

  • If Save template is blocked, complete the mapping first

  • If you see Enter a template name to save., add a name and try again

  • If Apply template fails, confirm you are on the right worksheet and that the expected columns exist

  • If header names changed, update the sheet or rebuild the template from the new layout
