Version Comparison in Blast Audit highlights text added to or removed from one document version compared with another. It is best for true version-to-version review, not for comparing unrelated files. You may still see Copilot Audit in a few older labels.

Who this is for

  • Users reviewing revised PDFs

  • Audit teams checking whether a document changed between periods or review rounds

  • Anyone who wants a change log exported back into Excel

Before you begin

  • Import both document versions into the add-in

  • Finish OCR for both files

  • Open the add-in inside Excel if you plan to use Export as sheet

How to do it

  1. Open Compare from the add-in navigation, or use the Version Comparison command from the ribbon.

  2. In the selectors, choose the Old version and the New version from Available documents.

  3. Wait while Blast Audit loads both PDFs and computes the diff.

  4. Review the page controls and the Removed and Added badges to see where changes are concentrated.

  5. Use the side-by-side panes to inspect the old and new documents together.

  6. Watch the totals shown at the top for Total removed and Total added.

  7. If you need an Excel workpaper, click Export as sheet.

  8. Blast Audit creates a worksheet named Version Comparison, or Version Comparison (2) if that name already exists.

Expected result

  • You compare two versions of the same source document

  • Both files have completed OCR before the review starts

  • The change counts make sense for the type of revision you expected

  • The exported sheet is ready to reference in your workbook

Avoid this

  • Comparing unrelated documents and treating the noisy output as a product bug

  • Starting the comparison before OCR finishes on both files

  • Expecting an export before any differences have been computed

  • Trying to export outside an Excel context

If it still doesn't work

  • If you see an OCR warning, go back to Documents, complete OCR, and try again

  • If the add-in says Select two documents to compare., re-check both selectors

  • If the PDF cannot load, re-import the file or confirm the document is still available in the workbook

  • If there are no differences, Blast Audit can show No differences detected yet. That can be valid.
